Ruslana (her full name is Ruslana Lyzhychko, born on 24 May 1973) is that singer who won the Eurovision Song Competition in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2004, and that was a great breakthrough for all Ukraine. Her winning single “Wild Dances” and subsequent album of the same name were very popular in more than twenty-five countries. Thereafter Ruslana received the prestigious World Music Award in Las Vegas as the top selling Ukrainian artist in the world. Also she performed at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 inspiring sportsmen to show their best.
Ruslana – vocalist, conductor, pianist, composer and producer. Her classical musical training started at the age of four, she was graduated in the music Conservatory in Lviv, Ukraine, as a pianist and orchestra conductor. Ruslana’s father is from the West Ukraine and his ancestors were the Hutsuls, the dwellers of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. Their unique culture with powerful ethnic drums and trumpet sounds of the trembita inspired Ruslana to create her special music.

Tina Karol

Tina Karol (Tatiana Liberman) was born on the 25th of January in 1985, and as for her age she achieved a great success. One of interesting facts from her biography is that she works on a regular basis as a soloist of the Ensemble of Song and Dance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Once, Tina went to Iraq to perform for the Ukrainian peace keepers, and her performances were popular among soldiers from different counties. A Polish general awarded the Ukrainian singer a medal — she was the first singer who came to perform to cheer up the peace keepers. Ukraine’s Minister of Defence personally asked Tina Karol to go to Kosovo to sing for the peace keeping forces there.
Tina Karol says: “I love the Ukrainian language for its melodic qualities… Ukraine for me is associated with flowers, homeland, with the beauty of the sky and of the land. The wide expanse of the sky, the cheerful emotions, and the smiles of women— that’s what Ukraine is for me.” When Tina has to perform for a foreign audience, she wants to present to them a positive image of Ukraine with its vigorous spirit. And the Eurovision Song Contest of 2006 proved her words: she was so charming in her short white dress performing her hit “Show Me Your Love” and expressing strong energy of Ukrainian beauty to the whole world! Ani Lorak
Ani Lorak is also one of the sexiest Ukrainian singers: her strong, tender and unique voice with a stunning appearance makes her one of the most desired women in Ukraine. Her albums are bestsellers and she is everywhere on the TV and on Ukrainian magazines covers.
Ani Lorak was born on 27th of December in 1978 and wanted to be a singer since she was four – and her dream came true at the age of fourteen when she signed her first professional contract. Her true name is Karolina, but in March 1995 she became known as Ani Lorak: she had to invent her stage name because of another Russian singer with the name Karolina. At the age of 19 she was awarded with title of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine, having become the youngest singer ever to get this rank. She gives performances on the stages of England, the USA, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Turkey and is the winner of a great number of various prizes. Her most famous albums “Tam de ty ye…” (There, where you are), “Ani Lorak”, “Smile”, and “Rozkazhy…” (Tell me…) Her credits include ten albums, one single, biographical film, and 24 video clips.
At the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 Ali Lorak represented Ukraine with the song “Shady Lady” and came in second place behind Dima Bilan from Russia. That was a great step for Ukraine and her future successful career. Ani Lorak also showed herself as an actress – she took part in many Ukrainian musical films. In addition the singer is the producer of her own brand and keeps the Angel-Lounge restaurant in the centre of Kyiv.
